February 2004 SCPOCA Club Meeting Minutes
The February 2004 Space City Panteras club meeting was a tech session held at Gray Gregory's ranch in Pattison.
The focus of the tech session was to prep cars for the Feb 28/29 Italian Automobile Festival of Speed. Panteras in attendance were driven by Rob West, Steve Hawkins, Gray Gregory, Don Franck (newly purchased red GT-5), Bill Isaacs (newly purchased blue GT-5), Dan Mixon, Doug Lockin, Eric Hickerson (newly purchased red Pantera), Bill Borrello, and David Bell, plus Kirby Schrader's resident engine-less GTS.
Jim Narum brought a pick-up truck full of pieces of his Pantera (rear uprights and a-arms, half-shafts, mufflers) for R&R. Jim removed his a-arm bushings and removed and replaced both sets of rear axle bearings.
Randy Pike's car was under construction at home but he spent the afternoon replacing Jim Narum's u-joints.
Bill Borrelo worked on getting his choke mechanism operating correctly - with Rob West's help.
Rob also tack welded the steering column slip-joint on Don Franck's new GT-5.
Doug Lockin cut out the factory under-car cross-brace and replaced it with a new removable version.
Doug and David Bell took turns helping flush the others brake system.
Friday night, Eric Hickerson replaced a leaky header with one donated from the Gregory parts room - and then Eric came back the next day to visit.
Tech/Safety inspections were completed on three cars.
Gray Gregory's two master chefs cooked up an incredible fish fry complete with hush puppies that was eaten right down to the last crumbs. Thanks again Gray!
The Houston chapter of the Ferrari Club of America dropped by following their country drive and stayed for lunch.
A rough Ferrari bodycount included: a 550 Maranello, a 360 Modena, three 355's, and three Testarosas, plus the Gregory family stable of a 330 GT-C, a 365-GTB Daytona, and a 250 Short Wheel-base.
No club business was discussed.
