Pocono 1998

John Taphorn, my son Dylan and myself attended the 1998 La Belle Macchine d'Italia at Pocono from July 3-5. A little story of the gettin' there, doin' it and gettin' back can be found here. It's the same one I posted to the mailing list.

Here's some more pictures that my son Dylan took at Pocono.

This is the complete back row of the Detomaso gang with some of the front row, plus my car. Note that since this is my website, the pictures are heavily biased towards me! :-)))

Dylan was especially enamored with 'Purple Passion', Gary Hall's Ultra Pantera.

The next day, it's the track event! Here's a shot of the pits on Saturday

The following are pictures of me out on the track. Two of the pics were taken by a photographer in and near the hairpin after 'Tunnel Turn'.
Note the 'Team Pantera Racing' decal! Hey, Mikey! The 377 ran like stink (after I replaced the spark plug wires!). In fact, the car is running better after the event than it did before the event! I reached an indicated 155mph on the back straight before I scared myself silly and started braking...

A couple of shots out in the infield

I lost a water pump belt on Saturday, but thanks to Doug Smith, John Taphorn, Tom Palermo, Dylan and others, I was back out on the track in a couple of hours!

I quite like this picture of Dave Aument being harassed! ;-)

Here's the GT-40 that was absolutely awesome. Check out the high tech parking brake!
If I'm not mistaken, that's George P. Dausch IV in the white cap. Right, George?

Coming out of the last turn onto the front straight

Myself, Ron Graves and John Taphorn discussing Ron's engine problem.

And then it was time to leave. You can see John Taphorn by the Explorer just behind the Burgundy Express.
